Raïsa Schoon from Werkendam and her partner Katja Stam have delivered a fantastic performance. In the Elite-16 tournament in Tepic in Mexico, they managed to beat a large part of the world's top players. In the final, they lost by the smallest possible margin against the Swiss duo Tanja Hüberli/Nina Brunner. The score was 19-17 in the third set.

The balance of power towards the Olympic Games in Paris, next summer, is slowly but surely becoming clear. With this second place, Raïsa and Katja not only present their calling card in terms of performance, but they also demonstrate their ambition to create the best possible starting point on the placement list for the Games.

In two weeks, they will play another Elite-16 tournament, this time in Brasilia, the capital of Brazil. In the meantime, they will stay in this South American country to train.
