In Tepic, Mexico, the beach volleyball team Raïsa Schoon and her partner Katja Stam achieved a great fifth place. After winning all matches in the group stage, they met the number one seeded team, Duda and Anna Patricia, from Brazil in the quarter finals. It was a thrilling three-setter, in which the women from the Netherlands lost the third set by the smallest possible margin, 16-14.
With this fifth place at the highest world level, the Elite 16, they show a consistent line after their win earlier in Doha, and they strengthen their position on the way to qualifying for the Olympic Games in Paris.
