Raïsa Zonnemijn SchoonBeach volleyball player Raïsa Schoon from Werkendam and her partner Katja Stam made the best possible start in the qualifying series towards the Olympic Games in Paris.
In Doha, Qatar, they immediately managed to win the first Elite 16 tournament of 2023. The entire world top was left behind. In the group, all three matches were won, and that victory was also achieved in the quarter finals, semi-finals and the final.
The final was a beautiful three-setter against the strong Swiss team Nina Brunner and Tanja Hüberli. After a narrow loss in the first set (20-22), it quickly became clear who was the best, because sets two and three were won with 21-14 and 15-11.
With this win, the team climbs to second place on the world rankings.
