Raïsa Zonnemijn SchoonA fantastic silver medal at the Challenger tournament of Itapema in Brazil, after the gold at the Elite 16 tournament in Rosarito and the silver in Tlaxcala (both Mexico), led to the ultimate place on the world ranking. Beach volleyball player Raïsa Schoon from Werkendam is in first place on the world ranking with her partner Katja Stam.
At only 19 years old, she already made an impression last year by qualifying for the Olympic Games in Tokyo, and by winning silver at the European Championship. The upward trend was continued by Raïsa, who has now turned 20, in the first three top tournaments of this year.
They collected enough points to dethrone the Brazilian team Aghatha Bednarczuk and Eduarda Santos Lisboa (Duda). A historic and unique achievement.
