After a fantastic year with no less than two Elite 16 titles, the Stam/Schoon team reached the semi-finals. In this semi-final, the American team, the eventual winner of the tournament, Sara Hughes and Kelly Cheng, proved to be too strong. In the battle for bronze, the Australian team Taliqua Clancy and Mariafe Artacho Del Solar were defeated with clear figures (21-18 and 21-10).
A great victory, and a revenge for the knockout match lost last year during the World Championship in Rome against this same Australian team.
With a podium finish, the 2022 season is officially concluded for Raïsa Schoon and Katja Stam, and this week the first tournament of 2023 starts for them. A very important year, because this also marks the start of the qualification for the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024.
