Raïsa Zonnemijn SchoonBeach volleyball player Raïsa Schoon and her partner Katja Stam finished ninth at the Olympic Games in Paris. After winning the group stage in the iconic stadium under the Eiffel Tower against teams from Lithuania and Japan, and suffering a narrow defeat against Brazil, a team from Spain awaited them in the so-called ‘round of 16’. A very evenly matched battle ultimately resulted in a loss by the smallest possible margin, 15-13, in the third set, and thus a ninth place in the final ranking.
Next week, Raïsa and Katja can be seen in their own country, at the European Championship. They will play the opening match on Tuesday 13 August in Apeldoorn.
